Official Referee: Arjarn Frederick Fitzgerald (New Jersey): Arjarn Frederick Fitzgerald is noted as one of the top Muay Thai Judge and Referees in the United States of America. He has refereed in several Thai Boxing stadiums in Thailand. He has also judged and refereed in the 18th South East Asian Games, and the King's Cup and Prince's Cup, International Muay Thai Championships. Arjarn Fitzgerald did a tremendous job during the event, bringing order and a sense of professionalism to the bouts. The fighters gave respect to his judgements as they did to the results of the judges. |
JUDGES: Moti Horenstein (New York), Gregory Puriefoy (New Jersey), Francis Burgos (New York), Mohammed Kadafi (New York),
THE USMTA OFFICIALS: Khun C. Heyliger: Senior Officer (NY), Scott Colon: Records Officer (NY), Miss Josefa Leston: 1st. Recording Officer (NY), Antonino Guy: Fighter Recording Officer (NY), Micheal Kojac: Fighter Recording Officer (NY), Miss China Alvarado: Registration Officer (NY), Pepsi Robinson: Official presenter (NY). |
COMMENTATORS: Mr. John Perretti (R) of Extreme Fighting Pay -Per-View fame, was commentator for the event, co-anchored by Mr. Jonas Nunas, (L) President of the International Kickboxing Federation of New Jersey, both did a tremendous job with interviews, and commentating. The Thai boxing fans that came to the event gave a great display of support, especially for the fighters from Holland. |
Fighters:
The fighters had traveled from Israel, Morocco and from the former Soviet
nations. Fighters of Belarussia and their coach Mr. Alex Andrievsky and
fighters from Ukraine with their coach Mr. Vitali Rytchko, who has represented
his country as coach for the Ukraine teams, in the Kings Cup and Prince's
Cup of Thailand on several occasions did a tremendous job representing
their nations with dignity and pride. Mr. Mohamed Ait Hassou of Holland was so pleased with the event that he had asked to be called again as soon as Strike are prepared to promote another event. This is exactly the kind of international support American Muay Thai promoters need. The American fighters showed their colors supporting the event, several fighters and their coaches flew in from San Jose and San Francisco, New York home boys, and fighters from Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Massachusetts added to the East coast - West coast contingent. |
A tanned looking Kick Boxing promoter from Brooklyn, New York Mr. Luis Neglia and Strike Promoter Mr. Alex Yus. both watched the Thai boxing bouts with great interest while several local sponsors and businessmen from New York, smile for the camera. They all reflected that the event promoted by Strike Inc., was a great success, and that they would all like to see more of these kinds of events. The audience at the TROYKA were the very best and were most expressive we had seen. They showed their appreciation of the event by eagerly clapping and cheering at their favorite fighters who had traveled hundreds and in some cases, even thousands of miles to be at the first 'Official' Muay Thai event of this caliber. Where international fighters had come to fight, several of the fighters had only dreamed about coming to America, and here they were competing in New York.
PRESENTATIONS: Strike presented a certificate of recognition and a check for one thousand dollars to the PBA (Patrolman's Benevolent Association) representatives; Mr. Patrick Burke, Mr. Daniel J. Tirelli, and Mr. Scott Bishop. On behalf of New York Police Officer Brian Quigley of 16 years service, with the 112th Precinct in New York, who was fighting his own battle with cancer. Brian who has a wife, Regina and four sons, Patrick, Matthew, Michael, and Daniel, were also given honorary certificates from the USMTA, and gifts from Strike. |
This was presented with class and style, and was greatly appreciated by the fans who gave a great applause, (no doubt this will catch on with other promoters who we hope will continue the trend). Announcer and singer Mr. Douglas, who was caught off guard with the way the event went, did a good job. At the beginning of the night's event, Mr. Douglas sang the American National Anthem, which brought a great cheer from the audience who showed their appreciation of his singing ability with loud round of applause. To add a little feminine beauty to the event, and to even out all that male testosterone, Strike's ring card girls did a real nice job, with class and flair, and figures to go with it. They were presented with certificates from Strike's Muay Thai pendants (from official sponsors of the Event- Quantum99,Inc.) trophies and certificates from the USMTA, for the great job they did at the event. |

bout. Anthony Badua won by technical knockout, as Louis conceded at the
end of the second round due to a previous shin injury on his left leg
which came back to haunt him, in what was to be an exciting bout of Muay
Thai. Both fighters displayed an incredible dance of homage the 'Ram Muay' showing the audience the best from the East and West Coast of America. To see the Ram Muay in New York from fighters such as these, really begins to promote the art of Muay Thai the correct way, as no Muay Thai fight is complete without it. |

Muay
Thai International Heavyweight Championship
7th Bout: Red Corner; Dimitri Stepanov from Belarussia, weighing in at 208lb with a fight record 26 - 6 - 0 and is a World Champion, -versus- Blue Corner; Jim Mullen, weighing in at 206lb, with a fight record of 19 - 1 - 0 from Oakridge Gym in CA, and is a WKA North American Champion and two time World DRAKA Champion, they competed in a 5 round 2 minute bout. Jim Mullen defeated Dimitri Stepanov, in the second round by Technical knockout, due to a cut over the left eye, which caused the referee to stop the fight on the command of the ring doctor. It was though, the cut was not really serious and did not even need stitches, but it did bleed a lot making it look much more dramatic than it really was. The event by all standards, was an excellent attempt by first time promoters of Muay Thai, Strike Inc., who managed to bring an international flavor to New York and an array of Thai Boxing bouts that surpassed and surprised many, who thought it couldn't be done.
